Abstract

Evaluation of extract of Azadirachta indica A. Juss, Meliaceae, “Neem” and Bokashi fertilizer, on the yield of Hybrid Corn HS-5g in community of Cantón Taracena, Santo Domingo, Suchitepéquez. The Taracena canton community is located four kilometers from the municipality of Santo Domingo, it is located at the geographic coordinates of 14° 29'40” of North latitude and 91° 29' 39” of West longitude, it is located at an altitude of 256 meters above sea level. The community is characterized by growing Corn, however, the yields are lower than 1,623 kg / ha (24.5 qq / mz) of dry Corn, being low for the potential of the crop of 5,194.54 kg / ha (80 qq / mz), the This is because they do not apply fertilizers and there is no control of fall armyworm due to the high cost of fertilizers and pesticides. The problem led to the investigation to increase the yield of the Corn culture, the hybrid HS-5g was used, the agronomic management of the culture was the same throughout the experiment. The nutrition and control of the fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda was evaluated, using Bokashi, which is a fermented fertilizer, compared with the technical application of fertilizers based on the demand of the corn crop and a relative control that is the form and amount of fertilizer used in the community; To control the fall armyworm, a botanical insecticide prepared with extract from the Neem Azadirachta indica A. Juss tree was used, compared with the application of Larvin 37.5 SC insecticide and an absolute control without application. The results obtained within nutrition, the best treatment was the technical application of fertilizers with an average yield of 4,806.76 kg / ha (74.03 qq / mz), nutrition with organic fertilizer with an average yield of 4,257.15 kg / ha (65.57 qq / mz), control nutrition with average yield of 4,137.63 kg / ha (63.73 qq / mz). The treatments for the fall armyworm control, the best treatment was the chemical insecticide Larvin 37.5 SC, the average incidence of the fall armyworm S. frugiperda was 10.56 percent, followed by the neem botanical insecticide with 47.22%, the control treatments showed incidence average of 71.67%. The cost-benefit analysis for production with the application of complementary fertilizers and chemical control S. frugiperda was 1.6 and organic applications with nutrition with Bokashi and Neem A. indica foliar extract for the control of S. frugiperda was 1.5
