Abstract

Evaluation of four types of fertilizers applied to the soil in seedbeds of Saccharum officinarum, L., sugarcane, at Las Palmas farm, San Antonio, Suchitepéquez. At present, the increase in prices of chemical fertilizers and the lack of knowledge of the nutritional contribution of organic fertilizers (sowing), has caused some sugarcane producers not to provide the proper nutrition to the sugarcane plant, which is reflected in the yields at the time of cutting. The research was carried out with the purpose of increasing the sugarcane crop yield (Ton/ha) and reducing production costs. For this research, the CG-9878 variety was used, giving the same agronomic management to all experimental units. Two doses of chemical fertilizers were evaluated, one dose recommended by personnel from the Tululá sugar mill and the other dose required by the soils prior to soil analysis; and two organic fertilizers, sow and poultry manure; in addition to a relative control (without soil fertilization). The response variables measured in this research were the following: number of packages/ha (one package is 30 sugarcane cuttings of 60 cm each), morphological variables of stem length, stem diameter, number of viable buds and the percentage of sugarcane germination. In each of the variables measured in the research, the result was that treatment three (required dose of fertilizer) was statistically the best treatment evaluated in each of the experimental units. The financial analysis showed that treatment 2 (recommended dose of chemical fertilizer) obtained the best benefit-cost ratio of the research, being 1.39 with a profitability index of 39%.
