Abstract

The investigation was carried out in the "La Ceiba" sector on the "Las Margaritas" farm in the municipality of San Francisco Zapotitlán, Suchitepéquez; in order to evaluate three types of artisan traps and two types of attractants for the control of Gymnandrosoma aurantianum "walnut borer" in the cultivation of Macadamia integrifolia "macadamia". 36 M. integrifolia trees were used as an experimental unit. An ANOVA was carried out for a completely randomized design in a combinatorial arrangement. The artisan traps evaluated were of the Delta, ECO-IAPAR and BROCAP type and the attractants were a macadamia nut macerate with sugar and a molasses ferment with banana, using six treatments and six repetitions. The insects that captured the traps were identified, the costs of elaboration of the treatments were established and a reading of the precipitation, humidity and temperature of the farm "Las Margaritas" was taken during the execution of the investigation.
