Abstract

SUMMARY The main objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of Silicon (Si) in terms of the development of the crop or production performance of Musa paradisiaca “Plantain” for export, in “Hacienda La Esperanza” which is located in the municipality of San José el Ídolo of the department. from Suchitepéquez. at an average height of 140 meters above sea level. In Andisol soilwith sandy-clay loam texture. A completely randomized experimental design was carried out, with five treatments and four repetitions, applying 75 kg/ha, 150 kg/ha, 225 kg/ha, 300 kg/ha and 0 kg/ha (control) of Thermal Agricultural Silicate (35% of Si), incorporated into the farm's nutrition plan distributed in eight applications. The variables evaluated were: plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves for 26 weeks until the emergence of the inflorescence,in which they were not found significant differences between treatments for each component. During the harvest, the dose that presented a better bunch was compared in terms of export requirements, the weight of the bunch (fruits) was obtained only for export (Real Factor) of each treatment, submitted to ANDEVA which determined that statistically all treatments are equal. The best performance of the real conversion factor was obtained by treatment five (absolute control) without application of 0.54 boxes/bunch, followed by treatment one with 0.52; Regarding the economic analysis, it was determined that the control treatment presented a greater profitability of 73% with a production yield of 1134 boxes/ha/year. However, it was determined that all treatments are statistically equal.
