Abstract
SUMMARY The present investigation was carried out on the Mocá Grande farm, which is located in the Municipality of Santa Bárbara, department of Suchitepéquez, with coordinates 14°31'48" N 91°14'08 W, at an average altitude of 911 meters above sea level, and It belongs to the life zone called Subtropical Humid Forest. The research began in the month of March and ended with data collection in the month of June, with the objective of evaluating two biological control methods with the fungus Beauveria bassiana at a dose of 100 g/hole and the chemical insecticide (Chlorpyrifos), Terminator 1.5 DP dose 20g/pocket; with direct application in the embrasures of zompopos Atta spp, in the cultivation of Macadamia integrifolia to determine the effect they cause, through a T-student independent means test. 26 active embrasures were identified completely at random and control methods were applied to reduce the activity of zompopos per minute and therefore reduce defoliation damage in M. integrifolia trees. Two applications and post-sampling were carried out and thus tested of T-student means for each variable obtained. When performing the T-student test for each of the data obtained, the following results were obtained; With a dosage of 20 grams/pocket, the method with the greatest efficiency in terms of control over the activity of zompopos per minute was the chemical method with the insecticide Chlorpyrifos Terminator 1.5 DP, with this method a reduction of 28.62 was obtained in terms of the average final. The cost of the biological control method was determined to be Q919.00 ha/year and the chemical method has a value of Q1316.00 ha/year and is the most efficient control method for the control of the zompopo pest Atta spp, in the cultivation of M. integrifolia under Moca Grande farm conditions.
