Abstract
SUMARY The present research was carried out at the Hamburg Agricultural farm located in San Felipe Retalhuleu, which had the objective of evaluating the insecticide extract of Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Cinnalys) for the control of Xyleborus spp “boca del boste” in Macadamia integrifolia, with two forms of application. At finca, one of the main problems of macadamia cultivation is the weakening and death of trees caused by corresponds to 5% and with a general average of insects of 1,400/year, so the decision was made to use an organic insecticide using it in two forms of application, which are applied to the stem and injected and likewise different doses were used. being five ml and three ml of cinnamon extract (Cinnalys)/liter of water, this compared to the relative control being the application of five ml of cypermethrin plus chlorpyrifos (Tregua 45 EC)/liter of water, establishing the experiment in the batch which is in quarantine called Hamburgo Viejo, using five hectares. The response variables were incidence, yield, damage characterization, stem borer species identification, and total costs. The results obtained for the response variables were that the treatment with factor A (applied on the stem) plus factor B (five ml of cinnamon extract (Cinnalys)/liter of water) was the best treatment, which reduced the incidence 15%, with a total cost of Q 391.50, then treatment with factor A (injected) with factor B (five ml of cinnamon extract/liter of water) reduced the incidence by 17% and with a cost of Q 574.00 this is due to the fact that the application method is more thorough so it takes more days to carry out the application, and with respect to the relative control that was with the treatment with factor A (applied on the stem) plus factor B ( five ml of cypermethrin plus chlorpyrifos/liter of water plus five g of detergent) reduced incidence by 29% and with a total cost of Q 218.50. With respect to yield, a total of 83,384 kg/ha was obtained from the four collections, where it was observed that there was no improvement in terms of yield because the evaluated products have no use for the plant nutrition of the tree. Regarding the characterization of the damage, it was determined that the height of the tree preferred by the stem borer is between 0 to 0.70 m, affecting healthy, diseased or trees with some nutritional deficiency and with ages greater than 15 years, finding borers in areas of the stem with a large presence of humidity and where exposure to sunlight is very little or non-existent.
