Abstract
ABSTRACT Four investigations of propagation methods of mangrove Conocarpus erectus L. are presented, being seed scarification, propagation of micro cuttings, propagation of cuttings in three substrates and propagation by air layering in two substrates. The scarification methods of C. erectus L. were carried out as follows: the chemical method consisted of immersing the seed in 5% sulfuric acid for 15 seconds, the thermal method consisted of immersing the seed in water at 80°C for 15 seconds. seconds and the mechanic consisted of submerging the seed for 24 hours in water at 24 °C, then the seed was rubbed with sand and subsequently all the seeds were sown, each method was evaluated with two types of shade and a control (without shade), obtaining 12% germination with the scarification method of 5% sulfuric acid and 50% shade. The asexual propagation of C. erectus L. was carried out with micro stakes with diameters of one and two centimeters in three substrates, sand, soil from the mangrove area and a mixture of 70% soil and 30% sand, subsequently bags were placed on each experimental unit simulating the humid chamber for 45 days, the best result was 67% of rooted micro cuttings with a volume of 3.1 cm3 obtained with the substrate composed of soil and sand, with no differences found between the diameters evaluated. The research carried out on propagation by cuttings with three and five centimeters in diameter in three substrates, sand, soil from the mangrove area and a composition of 70% soil and 30% sand, resulted in 85% of rooted cuttings with a root volume of 4.7cm3 in the substrate composed of sand and soil while the diameters evaluated did not show differences.
