Abstract

ABSTRACT At the Official Urban Mixed Párvulos School No. 2, located in Mazatenango, Suchitepéquez, the problem of challenging behavior in preschool children was investigated. The objective was to analyze the causes of said behavior and propose appropriate psycho-pedagogical guidelines for the classroom, home and school, with the purpose of preventing it from affecting the educational process of children. The study sought to demonstrate the hypothesis that psychopedagogical attention to children with challenging behaviors significantly influences the teaching-learning process, which was confirmed. Research techniques such as experiential observation, restorative circles, the Goodenough test and personalized psycho-pedagogical treatment were used in selected cases, which allowed the field work to be documented. The results conclude that children with challenging attitudes who receive psychopedagogical attention from preschool teachers improve their behavior both with their peers and with their teacher. Therefore, it is recommended to implement psychopedagogical interventions based on the psychological relationship, which facilitate the control and reduction of challenging behaviors, promoting the psychosocial and academic development of children.
