Abstract

ABSTRACT The research was carried out in the three national institutes of basic education of Telesecundaria in the rural area of San Miguel Panán in the department of Suchitepéquez. This research aimed to analyze the factors that influence school dropout in students from these educational centers during the health emergency of the Covid-19 pandemic. To carry it out, the qualitative method was used using techniques such as observation, interviews and testimonies to directors, teachers, parents, and students of said educational centers. After analyzing the data collected, it was understood that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the secondary education of young people from poor families in the rural area of the municipality of San Miguel Panán as they do not have enough economic resources to have the necessary logistics to receive distance education. On the other hand, the attention of teachers has been deficient, which has led these students to drop out of their studies at these institutes
