Abstract
ABSTRACT As a result of the Covid 19 pandemic, the educational establishments of the municipality of San Gabriel, Suchitepéquez saw the need to migrate the pedagogical act to the non-face-to-face modality during the years 2020 and 2021 until mid-2022, when the epidemiological alert traffic light allowed the teaching activity to the hybrid modality. This research was carried out with the objective of analyzing the implementation of hybrid teaching in the school context of said municipality to assess its benefits and disadvantages in the quality of teaching attention to students. For this, participant observation was applied, interviews with students, teachers, parents, and school directors whose testimonies revealed the main strategies, techniques and tools applied to the new modality. Hybrid teaching came to generate positive changes in teaching because the implementation of face-to-face bubbles of students receiving teaching simultaneously with classmates who received online teaching increased student enrollment and ensured their retention in school in the last months of the pandemic.
