Abstract

ABSTRACT Sex education is a right of boys and girls, which changes their direction to make responsible decisions in youth. The research was carried out in schools: Official Rural Mixed School "Hilario Galindo" afternoon session, Official Rural Mixed School "Ortiz Candelaria" and in the Official Rural Mixed School Colonia Fegua, in the municipality of San Felipe, department of Retalhuleu. It was a qualitative study, which used the techniques of document review, participant observation, in-depth interviews and the collection of testimonial anecdotes from teachers, parents and students from the schools investigated. The study showed that sexual education in children at the primary level is a taboo subject because directors, teachers and parents consider that these topics are sensitive, so they can be misrepresented as something inappropriate for the age of the children the sexual education is a taboo subject, but that it is no longer so when it is taught at school; although in some of the students' families, it continues to be an uncomfortable topic that parents do not consider having the ability to talk to their children, so they trust the teaching and guidance of teachers to address them at school.
