Abstract
SUMMARY Agroindustrias del Trópico S.A. –Agrotropic- is a company that is dedicated to the production and marketing of Mangifera indica L.,Mango, it is exported to different international markets; However, there is a concern, the fruit fly, laying its eggs inside the fruits, causing them to lose their commercial value. In the fruit growth stage, practices are carried out to prevent the fruits from being infected with fruit fly larvae, which consist of placing artisanal Harris-type traps and using molasses as an attractant, however, it is unknown. the number of flies/trap that this product captures on Agrotropic farms, in this evaluation five attractants were tested, including one sexual and four food: enzymatic hydrolyzed protein Ceratrap, spinisaad GF-120, pheromones Agrofly ana, hydrolyzed protein Torula and Sacaroza molasses pills This evaluation aims to “Evaluate food and sexual attractants, using Harris-type traps, to capture Anastrepha oblique “Fruit fly” in Mangifera indica L. “Mango” Anacardiaeae, in farms of Agrotropic S.A., Champerico, Retalhuleu” this pest which generates restrictions on exports abroad, and also causes the fruits to completely lose their commercial value. In addition, to establish the attractant that generates the greatest number of fruit fly captures, this evaluation generated information regarding the value of Flies per trap per day -MTD- of the pest in three farms: Mangrullo, La Cuchilla and Chapan, the determination of the environmental conditions in which the pest develops in the region, the months in which it is present and the costs involved in carrying out control were known. Regarding the results obtained in this evaluation, it can be mentioned that the treatments that reported the highest number of captures were the enzymatic hydrolyzed protein Ceratrap with 145.68 and the hydrolyzed protein Torula tablet with 127.07 captures throughout the experiment, in addition to determining the value MTD in the three different farms which is: Finca La Cuchilla 0.90, Mangrullo 0.94 and Chapan 0.74. The use of the Ceratrap attractant is recommended in the three farms since it is the one with the highest number of captures with 1771 and with a cost per insect captured of 0.016 quetzals.
