Abstract

ABSTRACT EVALUATION OF FIVE HERBICIDES FOR PLATING OF AFRICAN PALM (Elaeis guineensis J.) OF FINCA SAN FERNANDO I, ALDEA SIBANA, EL ASINTAL, RETALHULEU. The farm San Fernando I belongs to the company Agroaceite, is one of the companies of the agroindustry that is dedicated to the production and processing of crude oil of African palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). This company seeks to raise its product with an added value in the production of edible products, its purpose is to promote development, through the production of palm oil. The research was conducted as a result of a farm diagnosis, where it was identified that there is a need to replace glyphosate, this being a recommendation of the advice that the farm receives, therefore served as the basis for the research approach, in which different applied herbicides were evaluated in the silver area of the African palm, where the conventional management of weeds that the farm uses in that area is a mixture of the agrochemicals: Abland, Forza and Silfac and Glyphosate, the latter being the one It is intended to replace. The objective of the research was to evaluate the herbicides that offer the time and cost of the days of control of weeds equivalent to those offered by the mixture of agrochemicals previously written, which is 17 weeks. The investigation started with the determination of the Cottam index, the value of importance of the weeds in the area of the silver, on the farm was found ten weeds being the most important Cyperus odoratus L. (coyolillo) with 71%, followed Rottboelia cochinchinensis L. (treadmill) with 64% and being in third place Tripogandra disgrega K. (tongue of rooster) with 45%. The herbicides evaluated for weed control were Indaziflam (Alion 50 SC), Paraquat - Diquat (Preglone 20 SL), Haloxydop-R-methyl ester (Galant 12 EC), Glyphosate (Roundup 36,6 SL), Clethodim (Select 12) EC), a block design was used when raising with five treatments and four repetitions, each experimental unit consisted of 24 palm plants, with intervals of 20 days between each sampling after the application of the herbicides. The most effective herbicide compared to glyphosate was Paraquat - Diquat in a dose of two liters per hectare, which controlled weeds for 80 days, the cost per control day of this herbicide was Q. 2.93. Being the one that comes closest to the cost per control day offered by the glyphosate molecule (Roundup 36.6 SL) which is Q. 2.93, so the application of Paraquat - Diquat is recommended for the control of weeds in the area of African palm plantation in the San Fernando I farm.
