Abstract
ABSTRACT Evaluation of chromatic traps for the control of Thysanopteros “thrips” in Elettaria cardamomum Maton “Cardamomo” Zingiberaceae, in Las Margaritas farm, San Francisco Zapotitlán Suchitepéquez. The research was carried out at Finca Las Margaritas in the municipality of San Francisco Zapotitlán, Suchitepéquez, focused on the evaluation of adherent chromatic traps for the control of Trips Sciothrips cardamomi, pests in the cardamom crop Elettaria cardamomum. In view of the problems generated by Thrips in Finca Las Margaritas, being the most important pest for the cardamom crop, causing direct damage to the fruit by scraping its mouthparts, causing scars to the unripe fruit, reducing the quality of the fruit by 90%, thus losing its exportable value, for such reasons, adherent chromatic traps were evaluated for the control of Thrips that affect the crop of E. cardamomum. The research consisted of evaluating adherent chromatic traps, the colors of the traps were: red, yellow, blue and the heights of placement of the traps, measured from the ground, were 0.75 m, 1.25 m and 1.75 m. The research was carried out in the Jaboncillo sector of Finca Las Margaritas from May 24 to August 15, 2022, the traps were checked every 15 days, and the populations of trips on the stems of E. cardamomum were also monitored every 15 days. The results showed that the trips population at Finca Las Margaritas increased in the months of may to june and decreased in the months of march and april. It was found that there is a difference in the color of the trap on the capture of adult tris of the species Sciothrips cardamomi, while no difference was found between the heights of placement of the traps for the capture of trips, no relationship was found between the height of the trap and the color for the capture of trips.
