Abstract

Education is considered as the transmission and construction of knowledge, skills, values and attitudes, as well as the formation of individuals for society, education is carried out through teachers who have direct contact with students, from so that the performance of teachers when exercising with a vocation leads them to be educators and thus achieve quality results for education. Because teaching is currently criticized for the arguments about teachers who have no vocation, there is an interest in inquiring about it. This is where the research process begins, as part of Practice II and Supervised Professional Exercise, being the information base the Institute of Basic Education By Cooperative "San Francisco" located in the municipality of San Francisco Zapotitlán Suchitepéquez. All the information obtained was through observations, interviews and a case study revealing the history of an educator who works in said educational center, which was essential to investigate the teaching vocation, providing truthful information in relation to the subject investigated, the interviews were conducted with teachers of the educational center as well as students and former students of the educator interviewed. In such a way that the results of the study carried out focus on two fundamental processes of which it seeks to understand the educational context of teachers, that is, the position of teachers and the elements to which said profession must respond, as well as the process of the teacher to become an educator with the starting point that is the vocation. It also involves aspects in relation to the challenges faced by a teacher and the importance of teacher training, as well as the characteristics and skills that a teacher must acquire, in relation to the commitment required to teach and become part of the reality of their context to transform it and thus provide benefits for education through work as an educator. Thus, framing that teaching action reflects the purpose of each of the teachers and in a systemic way, results of such actions are obtained, results that are later demanded by society itself and that is where the importance of the teaching vocation lies in order to become educators.
