Abstract

SUMMARY This summary of the thesis refers to the problems found, according to a diagnosis carried out on the topic "Socioeconomic aspects that affect school dropouts, in the National Institute of Basic Education of Telesecundaria, Santa Lucía hamlet, Santo Domingo Suchitepéquez". The starting point was the research question: What are the socioeconomic aspects that affect school dropout? The objective was to analyze the socioeconomic problems that cause school dropout and how it affects the physical, social, cultural, academic and economic development of students and families. The method used in the research had a mixed approach, manipulating the scientific method and the observation technique, for this purpose data collection instruments were used; formulating structured survey forms, addressed to the educational center administrator, teachers and students, and direct observation in the community. This is why there is a need to improve educational quality, emphasizing the curriculum, centered on the person as an entity that promotes personal, social and cultural development in the students who were the object of the study.
