Abstract

ABSTRACT High dropout rates characterized distance education and, on the contrary, the low percentages of students who manage to follow paths adjusted to the times established by the study plan made the work oriented to analyze profiles of a group of distance learning students, whose paths adhered to the temporal progression established by the study plan. A quantitative and descriptive study was carried out in which the following participated: director of the educational center, students and teachers of the Mazatenango Suchitepéquez Cooperative Basic Education Institute taught at a distance, who also met the condition of studying at a distance, to carry out the security protocols. In the data collection, a digital survey-type form was administered on personal and contextual variables with a possible impact on academic paths. The results show that, among the variables considered in the study, those that seem to be linked to achievement paths are the educational level of the parents, learning goals and internal and modifiable causal attributions. Likewise, the contextual variables perceived as promoting achievement were mainly linked to the teacher's availability and his/her promptness in answering queries and offering feedback on the activities carried out. The discussion proposes lines of action that, based on the results of the study, could contribute to promoting the achievement of educational quality in the distance learning modality.
