Abstract

Abstract This research was carried out with the objective of projecting a waste and solid waste management system for the Centro Universitario de Suroccidente (CUNSUROC), based on compliance with the Regulation for the comprehensive management of waste and solid waste (Governmental Agreement 164-2021), considering the center as a generating entity. The methodology used included the identification of the current management of waste and solid waste through field visits and interviews with the members of the center, with the purpose of diagnosing their current status in relation to the issue. A characterization of them was carried out to obtain data on per capita production, physical composition and density. This information was useful to establish improvement processes in the management of waste and solid waste. Finally, actions were generated to ensure the proper functioning of the proposal. The results obtained indicate that in CUNSUROC, 247.49 kilograms of waste and solid waste are generated weekly, equivalent to a per capita production of 0.0095 kilograms per inhabitant per day. The density of the waste is 138.44 kilograms per cubic meter.
