Abstract

ABSTRACT The research on bullying in the Instituto Básico por Cooperativa del Municipio San José la Máquina, -IBACOOP- was developed during the six months of immersion in the institution taking advantage of the development of the Supervised Professional Exercise of the bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy specialized in Educational Administration. The methodical approach was qualitative, so that through the literature review on the problem and through in-depth interviews applied to the principal, teaching staff and bullying students, victims of bullying and spectators; the triangulation of information that served as a basis for analyzing two flagship cases of bullying was generated. The objective was to diagnose how bullying occurs at IBACOOP and the administrative strategies to prevent and sanction it. It was detected that bullying affects adolescents because they are acts of physical, verbal and psychological abuse that occur repeatedly and deliberately, with the intention of intimidating, humiliating or causing harm to the most vulnerable young people. These bullying actions include insults, teasing, social exclusion and threats of physical aggression. Bullying causes victims’ anxiety, depression, stress and low self-esteem that leads to academic and social performance difficulties. In addition, it can lead to serious consequences such as suicide attempts in extreme cases. It is suggested that to address bullying it is necessary to implement policies and prevention programs in schools, as well as to promote education in values such as respect, empathy and tolerance. It is crucial to foster a safe and welcoming school environment where all students feel protected and supported. Collaboration between educators, parents and the community at large is essential to combat this problem and ensure the well-being of children and youth.
