Abstract

RESUMEN Las redes sociales son conocidas como un agrupamiento de personas dentro de una temática específica, denominada Comunidad Virtual. Día con día ha despertado el interés por conocer el comportamiento de los estudiantes frente a estas herramientas y sus posibles aplicaciones dentro del ámbito pedagógico. Actualmente los alumnos están rodeados de muchos distractores, entre los que se encuentran las diferentes redes sociales, tecnología no aprovechada como debería. Este avance de investigación muestra una propuesta metodológica para analizar datos y encontrar resultados tendientes a generar propuestas y recomendaciones de la implementación de las redes sociales en el sector educativo. Se realizó una investigación para medir el nivel de incidencia de las redes sociales en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes del ciclo básico (nivel medio). Este estudio está basado en encuestas, test y entrevistas a estudiantes del Instituto Nacional de Educación Básica - INEB - del municipio de San José el Ídolo, del departamento de Suchitepéquez, así como al Director, Docentes y Padres de Familia del mismo lugar. En esta parte de la investigación, se evaluó la naturaleza y hábitos existentes sobre redes sociales por parte de los adolescentes con el propósito de investigar el índice de estudiantes que presentan bajo rendimiento, en relación a el dominio de las redes sociales frente a la atención e interés en sus estudios. ABSTRACT Social networks are known as a grouping of people within a specific theme, called Virtual Community. Day by day they have awakened the interest to know the behavior of the students in front of these tools and their possible applications within the pedagogical scope. At the moment the students are surrounded by many distractors, among which are the different social networks, technology not used as it should. This research progress shows a methodological proposal to analyze data and find results tending to generate proposals and recommendations of the implementation of social networks in the educational sector. An investigation was carried out to measure the level of incidence of social networks in the academic performance of students in the basic cycle (middle level). This study is based on surveys, tests and interviews with students of the National Institute of Basic Education (INEB) of the municipality of San José el Idol, in the department of Suchitepéquez, as well as the Director, Teachers and Parents of the same place. In this part of the research, the nature and habits of social networks on the part of the adolescents were evaluated with the purpose of investigating the index of students who present / display low performance, in relation to the dominion of the social networks in front of the attention and Interest in their studies.
